Australian mid N.Z. Press Association. (Received April 18, 0.45 p.m.) LONDON, April 18,
Tlio Daily Telegraph says the opinion in < 110 Houso at a late hour last night wns tlmt flic matter raised hy Mr. Snowden's speech cannot bo allowed to rest where it is in view of his insistence upon his statement about the Balfour Note.
The political correspondent of the Morning Post Gays that in the dinner hour tlio Labour Party's executive came to a decision that it must support Mr. Snowden, although it agreed that ho had been indiscreet. Accordingly the attitude of Labour in tho election campaign will bo that the Government has made bad bargains in regard to the Allies' debts, especially with Italy and France. '1 herofore, as soon as tho Labour Party comes into power it will endeavour to revise those agreements.
Ministerialists are delighted to hear of this decision. Tho Conservatives and tho Liberals will both fight for the honouring of pledges given in tlio name of Britain.
GRAVE INDISCRETION.
UNFORTUNATE MOMUNT.
MacDONALD IN QUANDARY
(Received April 18. 10.15 p.m.) Times Cubic. LONDON, April 18
The political correspondent of tho Times says the general feeling in the Houso of Commons after Mr. MacDonald's speech was that ho had taken tho only possible courso in throwing Mi'. Snowden overboard. Earlier Mr. MacDonald had consulted tho executive of his party, for it was obvious that matters would have to bo smoothed out if Mr. Snowden's indiscretion was not to lead to disaster at tho election in May. Mr. Mac Donald's subsequent assurance that, in spite of Mr. Snowden's wild words, there would bo no repudiation of the debt agreements, somewhat cleared (ho air, but tlio general feeling is that Mr. Snowden could not liavc been more indiscreet at a moro unfortunate moment.
