MOTORISTS' CLOSE CALL.
CAPSIZE ON RAILWAY.
CAR WRECKED BY TRAIN.
OCCUPANTS BARELY ESCAPE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "WHANGAREI, Sunday. When the train from Opua to Whangarei was approaching the Ruatangata. crossing about 7 o'clock last evening, a light motor-car, driven by Mr. Mason, of Hikurangi, was proceeding down a steep grade to the crossing. Apparently, as a result of the brakes seizing, the car capsized and landed on the railway tracks. The driver, and a woman and child, who were passengers, were just able to get clear when the train struck the car, carrving it over the cattle-stop and completely wrecking it. MOTOR GOES OVER BANK. ORDEAL FOR THE OCCUPANTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] "WHANGAREI, Sunday. When Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Reyburn were proceeding to their homo in Paiua Bay Road lato on Friday night, their motor-car skidded, went over a bank and capsized, coming to rest on the hood. The occupants were imprisoned until assistance arrived, and were later removed to their home. Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Reyburn suffered injury beyond shock.
