JAURANGA ASSOCIATION..
GOOD SEASON ANTICIPATED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Saturday. The Tuuranga Hockey Association last evening decided to open tho season next Wednesday with a fancy costume seven-a-side tournament, in which it is anticipated that about a dozen teams wiU compete. The following weelc the men's competition for the Junes Cup and the ladies' competition for tho Harris Clip will commence. During the season competitions will lie played for the Press Cup. the Butler Cup and the Kent Cup. all for men's teams. The ladies' teams will play competition? for Buttons and the Kan die Cup. Tho schoolboys' competitions will be for Merryweather and Jordan Cups. Tho various clubs under the association have held their annual meetings and officers have been elected. A new team of native players will take part in tho ladies' competition, making six ladies' leam3. The association has purchased two sets of goal nets, and a successful season is anticipated. THE PIAKO 'ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA, Saturday. Tho annual meeting of the Pifiko Hockey Association was held at Matainata. last Friday evening. The.ro was a good attendance, most districts Bonding in delegates. Tho balancu-shect showed a satisfactory credit balance. After some discussion it was decided to movo the headquarters of tho association from Matamata to Morrinsvillo. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Sir. 8. Harvey, sen.; president. Mr. Pitt; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. B. Steele. S. Flower, M. McLean. Dr. W. It. Lawrence, M. Barford, secretary. Mr. K. Brown; assistant-secretary, Mr. Geo. Stephenson; auditor. Mr. J. Cottinghim; committee, Messrs. Hawcs, Thompson. Moore. P. Harvey, Missea G. Harvey, Vornnn. Mrs. Hawcs; refereei- Messrs. J. B. Steele, J. Cricket. Brown, Moore, Wills, Whitehead, Grainger, P. Harvey, Fitt, Carwardino, Mrs. Hawcs, Miss Bluckmore. It was decided to affiliate with the Auckland Association again this year and Messrs L. C. Kent, R. Avery and Miss Meehan wero appointed delegates. It was decided to play three rounds in tho competition, tho first aeries of matches to commence on May 4.
