6 « 0, I'd hate to be a laundress vr And have to stand and {J £>, Or turn a noisy mangle, <g> Or wrestlo with a tub; tg» .But when it carno to ironing g ft 1 shouldn't mind a bit t| ft How much there was before me H ft .because I'm fond of it. )4 ft , g I like to see the washing, ft So clean and fresh. and sweet, y ft Arranged upon tho clothes-horse j? ft In batches crisp and neat; I 4 ft And table-cloths and napkin!!, J4 ft All crumpled from the line, ft By homely inagic rendered n ft Immaculate and fino. ' ft /a, ft It' 3 nice to smooth the creases H ft And to watch the iron press ft A glossy satin surface ft On lingerie or dress; ft And leaving tho laundered linen A, ft A beautiful array ,0, ft for lavender-y cupboards ft At close of ironing day! .g, g, —Elizabeth Fleming.S 1
