OBITUARY.

MR. ALFRED H. WHITEHOUSE. Tho first man lo introduce tho phonograph into tlio Dominion, Mr, Alfred H. Whitohouse, died at tho Knox Home, Tamaki, this woek He had been an inmate of the home for ten years. Ho was the son of Mr. Abel Whitohouse, an early colonist. Mr. AJfretl Whitehouse travelled considerably, and during a visit to the United States met Mr. Edison, the famous inventor, and thus became, interested in the phonograph, bringing one of tho early machines back to New Zealand with him. He is survived by three sons and four daughter!.
