Mr. and Mrs. Biss, of Wellington, are visiting Auckland and arc slaying at Glenalvon.
Mrs. C. Prevost, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Hotel Cargen.
Mrs. 0. Springhall, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Ihe Hotel Cargen.
Mrs. G. Bruce, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mrs. E. S. Wright, of Dromorne Road, Renniera, has returned from a visit to Tahekc, Hokianga.
Mrs. F. E. Levy, of Owens Road, Mount Eden, has returned to Auckland after a visit to Wellington.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Gawith, of Longhush, Wairarapa, are visiting Sydney and are guests of Dr. Antill Pockley.
Mrs. G. Sribben, of Overdene, Calliope Road, Devonport, is leaving for Sydney to-day to visit her daughter, Mrs. Stocker.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Arnold, who have been staying at Hauraki Road, Takapuna, left for Wellington last evening en route to England.
Mrs. M. B. Montgompry and (ho Missps Montgomery, of ttemuora, have returned after a year's absence in England and the Continent.
Miss Brigham and Miss flattie Brigham are leaving by the Mataroa on Saturday on a visit to (lioir aunt, Mrs. Herbert Reed, of 'lhe Droog, Old Cieeve, Somerset.
Mrs. E. C. W. Tylee, of (ho Wairarapa, is returning shortly to New Zealand after a visit to England and the European Continent. Her two daughters are remaining behind to continue their art studies.
The Druids' Hall at Newton presented a cheery scene on Wednesday when the, president and committee of Iho Thames Girl?' Club gave an At Home. The hall was decorated with streamers and lanterns, and the stage with the club's bannpr and colours. Morrow's Orchestra provided excellent dance music. Enjoyable items were given by Miss Morrison and Mr. Culpitt. Among those present were the Mayoress, Mrs. Campbell, and Mrs. G. R. Hutchinson.
Dr. Margaret Knight was hostess at a tea given yesterday so that members of the. Provincial Executive and Council of the. Auckland Girl (luifles Association might meet Miss M. K. Wilson, a division commissioner from Scotland, who is at present visiting New Zealand. There were also present Miss A. Windham, a divisional commissioner from Sussex. and Miss Anderson, also from England. P.oth Miss Wilson and Miss Windham gave brief talks upon different phases of the work.
The children "of the Cradle 801 l of flip Ponsonhy W.C.T.U. were entertained, with their mothers, to a social afternoon on Thursday. The prpsident, Miss Rpad, spoke a "few words of welcome, and musical items were given by Miss Cailcr. Mrs. Atkinson sang a solo and Miss Rpad gave a' recitation entitled. "The Gospel According to Mothers." After their photographs were taken tea was served and each child given a toy by Mrs. Andrews, Cradle Roll superintendent. Mrs. Yerrand, corresponding secretary, read a message of greeting from Miss .Tpnnie Strept.
M iss Marjorie Meek, of Minnehaha Avenue, Takapuna. gave a farewell party at, her 'home nn Wednesday evening for her cousin, Mr. W. Leckie, who is returning to Australia, by the Marama after a world tour. The rooms were artistically decorated with howls of crimson and flame-coloured dahlias arranged with autumn leaves. Mrs. Meek wore a frock of black georgette, beaded in rhinestones, and Miss Meek wore apple green ripple ninon with an uneven hemline. Competitions were played during the evening, and supper was served in an adjoining room. The guests present included:—Miss Violet, Monckton, Miss Barbara Wilson, Miss Rufh Owens, Mrs. W. O'Brien, Mrs. Cassie, Miss Alice Meek, Miss Noleen Worthy, Miss Gwen Smith.
A morning lea for Miss A. Wvndham and M iss M. K. Wilson, who are visiting the Dominion in connection with the. Girl Guide movement, was given in the Lyceum Club yesterday morning by the executive commit lee of the Girl Guide Association. The, rooms were arranged with autumn shaded (lowers. In a brief but. interesting address, in which she described her recent travels in connection with the Guide movement, Miss Wvndham said she found the New Zealand Association was suffering from an "inferiority complex." This, she thought» was most, unwarranted, as the Girl Guides here compare most favourably with those in all other countries. Beside, tho guests of honour (here were present: —Mrs. 11. M. Tolhurst, Miss Trevithick, Mrs. Boy Wilson, Mrs. Ewen Alison, Miss Anderson, Mrs. Ely, Mrs. Levs and Miss Statham.
