Private advice has been received that Mr. William Penman, of Huntly, has won tho Australian draughts championship, played at Brisbane yesterday. Mr. Penman defeated Mr. Hugh Egan, of Melbourne, on a barred opening, and won tho first prize of £SO and a gold medal.
