CARILLON DEMONSTRATED.
SIR JAMES PARR'S TRIBUTE

There was a largo and representative gathering at (illicit and Johnson's works at Croydon to inspect the Wellington memorial carillon, which is to be. shipped to New Zealand in a fortnight. Mr, Clifford Ball played selections by Schubert.. Mozart and Mendelssohn to demonstrate the perfect range, and tone of tho bells. The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Parr, paid a tribute to the bell founders for their work which, bo said, was admittedly tho finest in tho world Ho regretted that ho could not. comply with tho request of the organisers of tho British Industries Exhibition, to bo held shortly at. Newcastle, for a sixmonths' loan of tho carillon, which undoubtedly would have been a great attraction.
Sir James said the silo chosen for tho tower in Wellington was the finest in New Zealand.
