TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. IF. M. Vincent Inst evening:— Cloudy to overcast weather conditions are indicated, with intermittent heavy rain, particularly in northern and east coast districts and Waikato areas. Scattered thunderstorms, accompanied by localised squalls, aro likely in North Auckland districts, and in places near the cast coast. Easterly to south-easterly winds, moderate (o strong, increasing strong to galo at times in the North. Rough seas on tho east coast and iri Cook Strait; mainly moderato elsewhere. Rivers heavily flooded in northern districts. The cyclonic disturbance is now operating over the North Island, the centre of tho depression being now located eastward of East Cape, moving south-eastward. A temporary improvement should follow shortly.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The cyclone is still centred north of East Cape and is moving slowly southward. A deep depression is located over Tasmania. The barometer is high at Chatham Islands. Indications nro for moderate to strong south-east to north-east winds north of Westport and Ivaikoura, reaching gale foreo in places. Elsewhere light to moderate, but freshening east to north winds. Rather rough to rough seas north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, elsewhere smooth to moderato. Moderate to strong south-east to north-east winds iri the north-east Tasman, and moderate but freshening northerlies in the south-east portion, with moderate seas. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with rain north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and extending southwards. Some heavy falls on the east coast of the North Island. Mist or fog in many places.
