BIRKENHEAD TRANSPORT.

Sir, —Mr. A. Hadfield's explanation for his changed attitude on cars running as buses, as reported in your Thursday's issue, will not stand investigation. For over five months cars were allowed to run as buses without even asking permission of the Borough Council but Mr. Hadfield did not object. When licences wero granted (ho two companies then operating had available ten buses with seating accommodation for over 200 passengers. At present there are only seven buses available, seating loss than 130 passengers, and I understand one of these has been sold. There is now more overcrowding on tho rush trip than ever before. Taos. Smith.
