ELLERSLIE DISTRICT.

ELEVATION TO BOROUGH

BOARD TAKES NO ACTION

Tho question of changing tho status of tho town district to that of a borough was discussed by the Ellerslie Town Board at a special meeting, and after some discussion it. was decided to take no action in tho matter. Although there had been no feeling in the matter on the part of ratepayers, the question was raised by Mr. J. J. Toy, and the matter was considered tentatively. It was stated at the meeting that, the Ellerslie district was the largest town district in the Domiuion, and that it would be possible to altei its status to that of a borough, as had been done recently at New Lynn. To obtain a commission to decide the question it would be necessary to organise a petition among ratepayers, and after considering all sides of the matter tho board decided not to proceed with the proposed alteration.
