CHAIRMAN TO RETIRE

PAEROA, Wednesday

Mr. H. M. Corbtt, chairman of the Ohincmuri County Council, has stated he does not intend to stand for re-election. Mr. Corbett was first elected a member of the council when 21 years of ago, and apart from a break of five years has served on it continuously for 25 years. He has been chairman for eight years. Mr. Corbett has achieved much popularity during his long term of office and his decision to retire is regretted in all parts of the county. It is understood that, Mr. O. Bjerring, president of the Waihi branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, will offer himself for election to the riding seat to bo vacated by Mr. Corbett.
