PLAY IN FINAL ROUNDS.
MINOR TOURNAMENT POINTS.

Playing in (lie draughts congress in the final of tho losers' class, G. A. Brown (champion) met E. Gibbard. In tho first game the latter secured a draw. Gibbard adopted the 30-25 defence with white in the second round and missed the draw on the mid game. Tho third game was won l>y tho champion. In tho final, between G. A. Brown and D. Calderwood (ex-champion), the first round saw Calderwood loso his bearings in the mid game. In tho second round tho position became somewhat involved, tho champion failing to find the draw. Tho aggregate to date in the minor tournament at the end of the eighth round is as follows: —Hutchins, 10 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses, 12 points; Botting, 9, 4, 3, 11; Young, 7, 6, 1, 10; Bruce, 7, 4, 3, 9; Millington, 6, 4, 6, 8; Gibson, 3, 8, 5, 7; Nicholson, 5, 2, 9, 6; Shadbolt, 2, 4, 6, 4; Lyon, 1. 5, 8, 3i; Haines, 1, 5, 8, 3£.
