REGENT THEATRE. Owing to tho success attending the appearance of Cautier's clog " bricklayers" at the Regent Theatre, tho attraction -will bo continued for a further week, commencing on Thursday. With this clever animal act and a highly entertaining variety of pictures, tho programme this week lias met with popular approval. Tho chief attraction, " The Mysterious Lady," is a swiftly-moving drama of lovo and passion. Some fine acting stands to the credit of Greta Garbo, the leading player. The supporting programme includes pictures of the latest world event,s and a comedy, " Tho Boy Friend." "Our Dancing Daughters," which will commence a season on Thursday, mirrors the life of tho younger set, catching all the moods and caprices of tho young people of tho present age. From excellent material a bright story has been written for the screen. The leading role has been entrusted to Joan Crawford, who has succeeded in capturing tho spirit of the story. A second feature on tho coming programme will bo " Midnight Madness," a Patho picture in which Jacquelino Logan and Clive Brook appear., MAJESTIC THEATRE. A story of New York criminal life, " Romance of tho Underworld," has proved a popular attraction at the Majestic Theatre. Tho picture deals in an interesting way with the adventurous happenings which are of everyday occurrence in tho low quarters of tho city. Tho story tells of a girl (Mary Astor) who is drawn into tho vortex of the seething undercurrent of crime as tho result of circumstances over which she has no control. She comes under tho influence of an unscrupulous trickster, Derby Dan. Slio says good-bye to tho life and is happily married, but into her life again comes Derby Dan. Uow sbo finally rids herself of his unwelcome presence makes capital entertainment. Tho programme also includes short pictures and a fine musical score. STRAND THEATRE. Having had a successful opening at tho Strand Theatre " The Spy" promises to bo one of tho most popular pictures shown in Auckland this year. The programme, which was enjoyed by crowded houses yesterday and on Saturday, will bo continued ior a further week from Friday. A product of the U.F.A. .Studios, " The Spy" is a story of Secret Service work and its warfare with tho forces of those criminals anxious to gain possession of international treaties and agreements. In particular, tho operations of a clever plotter, Ilaghi, aro dealt with. Much of the success of tho film is due to the painstaking caro taken in detail. There is a dancing interlude, " Tho Grecian Temple" and two short pictures. SUBURBAN THEATRES. A fascinating comedy-drama of Parisian society, " His Private Life," featuring Adolph Menjou, is now screening at tho Prince Edward Theatre, Karangahape Road. At the Empire Theatre, Dominion Road, " Clearing the Trail," with Hoot Gibson and Dorothy Gulliver in the leading roles, is being shown. The joys and sorrows of the great middle classes form tho theme for " The Crowd," in which Eleanor Boardman and James Murray bead a large cost, to be shown to-day at tho Edendale Pictures. " Tho Flept's In," an excellent comedy-drama, in which Clara Bow has the leading role, is being presented at the Victoria Theatre, Devonport. The story of an army officer, who becomes infatuated with an unscrupulous woman of great beauty, is unfolded in " Tho Foreign Legion," featuring Lewis Stone, Norman Kerry, Mary Nolan and June Marlow, which is the principal attraction of tho programme being shown at the Grey Lynn Cinema. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. Political intrigue and its exposure by a newspaper form the plot of " What a Night." a Paramount picture, which heads tho programme to commence on Thursday at Everybody's Thcatro, The picture abounds in humorous and sensational situations. Tho irresistible Bebe Daniels plays tho leading role, while assisting her are Neil Hamilton and William Austin. Tho efforts of tho newspaper to expose a connection between Mike Cornev, a dangerous gang leader, and a political employer, Patterson, lead to a succession of dramatic situations. As Dorothy Winston, the blundering although well-mean-ing daughter of an advertising magnate, Bebe Daniels frequently interweaves a strand of comedy into tho dramatic fabric of the theme. A second attraction is " The Danger Rider," featuring Hoot Gibson in an out-door story of romance, comedy and adventure. PLAZA AND TIVOLI. The popular actress, Clara Bow, will be seen in " Three Week Ends," from a story written by Elinor Glyn, which will bo shown at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres for a week commencing on Thursday. Since the production of the popular novolist's book, " Three Weeks," Elinor Glyn has written a number of exclusive screen stories for the Paramount corporation. Miss Bow is admirably suited for the rolo of tho light-hearted heroine of "Three Week Ends." Her appearance in "It " and " Red Hair," —two recent productions —established her in popular favour. Most of the action of the picture centres about houso parties in the country and at the seaside. A strong supporting programme will be shown. RIALTO AND EPSOM REGENT. An excellent programme, comprising two main pictures, is at present being shown at tho Rialt'o and Epsom Regent Theatres. " Shadows of the Night," in which Louise Lorraine and " Flash," the dog actor, appear, is a thrilling story of mystery and adventure. Tho unceasing war between the police and the criminal world forms the background for an exciting drama. The second picture, " The Heart of the Yukon" (John Bowers), deals with lifo in tho great northern wastes of America. Tho programme, which also includes the latest comedy and a gazette, will continue until Thursday, when a new programme will bo shown at both theatres. TUDOR THEATRE. Emil Jannings has achieved a masterpiece in " The Street of Sin," which is tho principal film on the programmo now showing at the Tudor Theatre, Itemuera. In spite of the drama, pathos and tragedy surrounding tho picture there is also an element of the most incongruous humour, making the film a faithful portrayal of lifo and giving it an undoubted appeal. Tho supporting cast includes Fay Wray as a Salvation Army lassio, Olga Baklanova as Annie, an associate of tho notorious Bill, and Ernest W. Johnson as Mr. Smith, a drink-sodden creature who nevertheless adds a touch of humour to the production. LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY. The presentation of John Drinkwater's comedy " Bird in Hand," which will commence a soason of four nights at tho Town Hal! Concert Chamber on April 10, will bo the Little Theatre Society's thirteenth production. It is a literary comedy, but thoro iu an undercurrent of seriousness which one would only oxpcct from such an eminent playwright as Drinkwater. Many new players will appear in " Bird in Hand," but among the tried members of tho cast is Mr. Ernest Blair, who gave an excellent study of Fergus Crampton in Shaw's, " You Never Can Toll." Booking arrangements aro advertised.
