THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. EVE OF HOLIDAY BUSINESS. Thero was a holiday air on tho Auckland Stock Exchango on Thursday, when only one call was made. The Exchange will reopen on April 8, after the Easter vacation. Banking shares were firm at current lovols, but no sales were made, although New Zcalands wero available at 625, the figure at which business was done 011 tho previous day Tho insurance market was virtually unchanged, and no business passed. In coal Pukemiros wero quoted, cx div., at 665, no buyers. Taupins changed hands at 26s 9d, tho ruling rate. In gas Aucklands had inquiry at tho current level of 24s 3d, but sellers held out for twopence more. In miscellaneous Colonial Sugits, which sold in the South at £6O during the week, wero sought at £59 15s, without drawing a response. Wilsons Cements wero offered threepence easier at 40s 9d, and buyers advanced by sixpence to 40s 6(1, the level of business earliar in the week, but no sales were made. In mining there was a transaction in Lucky Shots, contributing. at 7jd, an advance of one penny on tho preceding sale a fortnight ago. Tho Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office, dated March 27:—Tallow: There is a fair demand. Current quotations are: Good mutton, 43s per cwt.; good beef, 42s to 42s 6d; good mixed, 425; gut, 36s t.o 38s.
