DR. JOHNSON'S BIBLE.

Dr. Johnson's prayer book and Bible have been bought privately by Mr. Gabriel Wells, of New \ork. The two volumes, in eight parts both bear J, he Oxford imprint and the date 1743. Throughout both volumes are some 440 numerals, paginations, corrections of printer's errors, and marginal notes in Johnston's autograph. The markings in the first thirty pages of the prayer book show how closely it had been studied by Johnson. On the fly-leaf of the first volume are the words, written with scrolls and flourishes: "Thomas Johnson, Aug. 12, 1773. The Gift of his Cousin, Dr. Samuel Johnson." Thomas Johnson was the fourth child of Dr. Johnson's uncle, Andrew Johnson. He is mentioned in Boswell's " Life."-
