WEST COAST RESIDENTS.
NEW ASSOCIATION FORMED. A meeting of ex-west coast residents interested in the formation of an Auckland association was held at the Scots Hall this week. Mr. F. W. Schramm presided over an attendance of 120. The chairman outlined the aims and objects of the proposed association, the chief of which was sociability. He referred to the splendid organisation west coast residents had In Wellington, where a society had been formed shortly after tin) death of Iho late Mr. Seddon in 1906. The speaker said the movement could be successfully organised in Auckland as a branch of the Wellington society. It was unanimously resolved to form the association and the following officers were elected: —President, Mr. F. W. Schramm; vice-president, Messrs. J. Sullivan, J. Hall, (J. do Berry, L. Lord, C. Wainwriglit; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. Cox; executive, Messrs. H. Montgomery, C. A'Court, J. Manzoni, M. F. O'Brien, J. Thurlow.
The qualifications for membership, Mr. Schramm stated, would be either birth on tho west coast or ten years' residence there. 'lhosc willing (o assist tho movement would be admitted as associate members. It was decided to hold a social on Wednesday, April 24. A women's committee was appointed to arrange for tho function, which it is intended will be forc rutuier of similar social entertainments.
