LATE CONSTABLE BISHOP.
FUNERAL AT BIRKENHEAD. The funeral of the late Constable S. H. Bishop, who had beer, in charge of the Birkenhead police station for four years, took place on Thursday afternoon. Thero was a representative gathering, including members of the Birkenhead Borough Council and Messrs. J. W. Court and E. C. Walton, ex-mayors, Messrs. A. E. Greenslade, Mayor of Northcote, and H. Cadness, ex-mayor, Messrs. T. H. H. Beddek and S. Flavell, formerly in charge of the Birkenhead and, Northcote police stations, and now retired, and representatives of various local organisations. The Police Department was represented by Superintendent Wohlriann and Inspectors Mollis and Mcllvenoy, Chief-Detective Hammond, and a posse of nearly 100 uniformed police, under Senior-Sergeant Fianagan, of Newton, marched at the head of the cortege to the Birkenhead Anglican Cemetery. The Rev. A. J. Beck officiated at the graveside, and the Masonic rites were performed by Mr. R. G. S. Osborne, worshipful master of Lodge Onewa, on behalf of, Lodge Rotorua.
