It is set back from the Great South Road some distance, which will enable the owners to complete the scheme by the introduction of a Village Green. The design of the building is Elizabethan, the whole of the interior being in keeping with its exterior. The rooms, with their low-beamed ceilings, latticed windows, and the dining room, with its ingle nook and the beautiful Period furniture and furnishings, give an old-world charm and a sense of restfulness, and such is the general character of the interior of the building that one is reminded of the old coaching days. From the brick terrace at the back of the building a beautiful woodland view meets the eye. It is the intention of the owners to lay out the grounds extensively, and to further cater for the public by the laying out of Tennis Courts, Putting and Bowling Greens, and the formation of Picnic Grounds, which will be reached by a broad flight of brick steps leading from the Terrace. The motor traffic along this main highway has grown enormously in recent years, and it is the intention of the owners, Messrs. Hancock & Co., Limited, that the Inn will cater extensively for the requirements of the travelling public. Visitors from town will also find the Inn a pleasant resort for afternoon teas. N.
