OTAGO'S CRICKET COACH.
WHAT PROVINCE REQUIRES. The news that L. G. Eastman was not to bo invited to return to Dunedin next season caused some surprise among cricketers and followers of the game, says a Southern writer It will be remembered when it was first resolved to secure the services of a coach, it was decided to employ only a man who would take up bis residence in Dunedin for a period of three years, so that, in addition lo his servi<es being available throughout the seasons, he. would be able to give lectures during the winter months. I know there was general disappointment because the original intentions of Iho association were not, carried out, and not a few were dissatisfied with Eastman's bile arrival and early departure. It should be pointed out it was never the intention of Ihe association to bring a player from England to strengthen the representative side.
