THE BIENNIAL MEETING.:
ADMINISTRATION OF FUNDS.
The initiation of Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P., who had been nominated as a benefit member of the order, was one of the features of the biennial district council meeting of Rechabites of the Auckland Province yesterday. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., was also present. The oldest member of the district, Bro. F. Jeune, aged 88, had a special reception accorded him.
The council sat throughout the day in the Holy Sepulchre Parish Hall, under the presidency of the district chief ruler, Bro. R. B. Brodie. In his opening address Bro. Brodie touched on the gratifying results following from the visitation of outlying tents and expressed satisfaction at the largo number of transfers from the juvenile to the adult section. A deputation from the Auckland United Friendly Societies was welcomed by the chief ruler. The greetings and goodwill of the societies were conveyed to the council by Bro. F. C. Pace, president, Bro. H. G. Adams, immediate past presir dent, and Bro. D. M. A. Bodlev, vicepresident. A proposal that the district hospital - fund and the district benevolent fund should be amalgamated was referred to' the incoming executive. Proposals to increase the sick pay rates were deferred until the results of a fresh valuation are known. The district' executive was directed to consider ways and means of covering all hospital charges of all outpatients as well as m-patients. The following district officers were appointed:—Chief ruler, Bro. E. Simon; deputy ruler, Bro. B. Gardner; secretary, Bro. D. M. A. Bodley; treasurer, Bro. A. Jenkin; guardian, Bro. L. S. Francis; superintendent of juvenile tents, Bro. B. H. Wilson; executive, Bros. H. Campling, G. F. Day, H. I. Gardner and A. Sinclair; auditors, Bros. R. H. Horsley and H. A. YockHey; delegates to the United Friendly Societies' Conference, Bros. D. M. A. Bodley, A. Jenkin, H. Campling, T. W. Marshall; juvenile committee, Bros. L. Jenkin, L. Francis, A. Patrick, H. McKoy, E. Stewart. Bro. H. Campling was appointed as one of the district trustees, and Bro. A. A. Bodley was made district solicitor. The executive report, the balance-sheet, statistical report and juvenile returns were adopted. In the evening, during a largely-at-tended entertainment, provided chiefly by members of juvenile tents, prizes and awards were presented. The Pascoe Shield, for the tent showing the largest increase in membership, went to Michael's Tent, Devonport. Ibo com- ( petition among juveniles for bringing now members resulted :-J. C.
