PROGRESS OF WAIUKU.
THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME. ROAD SURFACING WORK. [BV TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIUKU, Tuesday. The Waiuku Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. J. A. James, presiding. It was reported that the casing for the seven-inch bore to be sunk on Barnaby's Hill for a water supply for the town had arrived, and Messrs. Gilberd and Craig had been engaged to sink the bore. Five tenders were received for the supply of pumping plant for pumping water up into the reservoir. These were referred to the board's consulting engineer, Mr S. L. I'. Spencer, with power to accept the one he considered most favourable. Permission was received from the district engineer of railways to lay a sixinch main across the railway line at Fernleigh when the water mains are being laid.
It was decided to roll Campbell Road, Kaiwaka Road, View Road, France Street and Victoria Avenue, and givo these roadways a dressing of pumice sand. The construction of a concrete footwall to arrest damage to the present breastwork at the Sandspit Reserve, at a cost of £ls, was authorised. The clerk, Mr. 11. C. Hay, was instructed to order the material for retarring Kitchener Road.
