CROQUET AFTERNOON.
Although the rain yesterday afternoon inconvenienced the croquet players in the city, Mrs. Hugh Lacy and Mrs. W. Beaumont, tho .match committee of tho Dcvonport Bowling Green Croquet t lub, were able to hold a progressive croquet afternoon at tho lawns in Devonport. The matches, which were keenly contested, were won by the following ladies: Mrs. J. W. Lowej A grade; Mrs. McDougall, B grade. Tho consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs, Pico and Mis. Beaumont. Bowls of pastel-shaded asters and asparagus fern decorated the tables in tho bowlers' pavilion, where tea was served. Those, present were:—Mrs. Lacy, Mrs Beaumont, Mrs. Ilarty (president). Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. .7. W. Lowe, Mrs. F. E. Mason, Mrs. Warren, Mrs. Broughion, Mrs. Ncwbegin. Mrs. Blackburn. Mrs. F. Burgess. Mrs. Cotes, Mrs. Carl Prime, Mrs. Prime, senior, Mrs. Robert Duder, Mrs. Rice, Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. H. King. Mrs. .Tackman, I Mrs. Penrose, Mrs. Gray, Mrs. Bruce, Mrs. McDougall, Mrs. S. Beck.
