STRIKE AT HIKURANGI.
NO CHANGE IN POSITION* 1; '• STOCKS OF COAL IN RESERVE* CEMENT PRODUCTION CONTINUES, There is no change in the position afl Wilson's colliery, Hikurangi, owned fcy the Wilsons Portland Cement where the miners failed to turn out work on Wednesday morning. The trouble arose over the taking of mea off the coal face and their replacement by shift workers. According to advice received by the head office of the company in Auckland the strike still continues and the mine is ntrv lying idle. The pumps are being worked by the permanent staff, sufficient cojJ being available to keep the pumps in action. The cement works are able to continue production, as sufficient stocks of coal are kept in reserve to tide the works over all but an exceptionally prolonged strike a{j the colliery. Even if these stocks were in* sufficient it is stated the company woul<J import coal to keep the main undertaking going. There aro also stocks of cement on hand available for deliverv.
