DECISION OF GOVERNMENT-
Advice that Cabinet had agreed to payment of the requested subsidy on money provided for unemployed reli|f work was received yesterday by the Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. E. H. Potter. The amount is not stated, but at the last meeting of the council, when the Government, intimated it would grant £SOO by way of subsidy, it was decided to ask that the amount should be reconsidered, and that at least £IOOO should be given. Men had been found work in the borough on permanent works at standard rates of pay.
