TRAMS AND BUSES.
NINE MONTHS' SURPLUS.
PROFIT OF ' NEARLY £IOOO.
The statement of accounts prepared by the Auckland Transport Board for the nine months, ended December 31 last reveal a profit of £986 on the combined working of trams and buses. In yesterday's issue, this amount "was attributed to the trams, but the profit in that department is considerably greater. For the nine months ended December, 1927, the entire undertaking showed a deficit of £40,178, and, in view of the fact that the buses have since been run at a heavy loss, amounting in nine months to £38,000, the surplus now returned on the undertaking as a whole can be viewed with satisfaction.
