A GUIDE FOR HOUSEWIVES.

An increase of 4d a dozen in. the prica of hen eggs and 6d a dozen in the price of duck eggs are the most important changes in food prices for the week. Hen eggs are now selling at Is 10d A dozen, and duck eggs at Is 9d. Fruit prices show a general uecrease, and vegetables ara also cheaper. Tomatoes are selling at to 3d a lb., and dessert apples at 4d to fad. Onions, green peas, beans and vegetable marrows are cheaper, and are available in large quantities. Prices of meat and fish remain unchanged. Following are the prices for the week: —

MEAT. NEW BUILDING AT CLAUDELANDS.

A f V-Ugree stock sale pavilion which has juab been built at Claudelands was officially opened to-day and was used for the first time. The pavilion is roofed in and seating accommodation capable of holding 350 people is arranged in tiers above the sale ring. The pavilion was built for £350 to the order of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Combineo Breeders' Association and the Waikato auctioneering firms. Tho opening ceremony was performed by Mr. W. J. McKee, president of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association) who congratulated Mr. A.. W. Green on the steps he had taken'in organising the scheme for the building of the pavilion, which had supplied a lone-felt want in Hamilton.

Alfred Bucklatid and Sons. Limited, report: —We held our first sheep and ram fair at Tuakau last Monday.' More than the advertised number (13.000) came, forward. There was a record attendance of buyers, and a keen demand prevailed throughout Without exception a total clearance was effected at values which were from 5s to 8s a head in advance of those ruling at the corresponding sale last year.
