NITROGEN STATISTICS.
WORLD'S PRODUCTION.
According to the eighth annual report of tho British Sulphate of Ammonia Federation. Limited, the world production of nitrogen during tho fertiliser year, July 1, 1927,—June 30, 1928, was 1,657,300 tons, an increase of 420,000 tons, or about 34 per cent, on the previous year. Estimates of the various forms making up this total for which strict accuracy is not daimed. are:—By-product sulphate of ammonia, 336,300 tons; synthetic sulphate, 366.100 tons; Chilean nitrate of soda, 390.300 tons; cyanamide (excluding material made in Japan, which is included under synthetic sulphate) 197.000 tons; nitrate of lime, 101.000 tons; other forms of synthetic nitrogen, 211,400 tons; anil other forms of by-product nitrogen. 55.200 tons. World consumption in tho year 1927-28 is estimated at 1,602.040 tons, against 1,312.700 tons in the previous 7/11 r *nn former figure is composed of /41,390 tons of pure nitrogen as sulphate equivalent; 391.300 tons as Chilean nitrate of soda; 196.210 tons as calcium cyanamide; and 273,110 tons aa other lorms of nitrogen.
