BANK CREDIT OF £SOO. Joseph James Storey, a miner, was fined £25 and costs at Kurri Kurri, Now South Wales, recently, for having falsely pretended to Constable Whitechurch that he was in necessitous circumstances, and thereby obtained a food relief order valued at 25s from tho Govornniont. It was revealed in evidence that Storey had received seven relief orders. When ho secured the first lie had a banking credit of £507 in tho Savings Hank, and in addition ho owned tho house in which ho lived, worth £350, and also had shares in a co-operative store. Storey's dofeneo was that ho was under tho impression that all persons who had no pay coming in wero entitled to relief.
