THE MINISTER ON TOUR.
IMPROVEMENTS AT COROMANDEL
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] COROMANDEL, Wednesday.
The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, accompanied by Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, Director-General of the Health Department, and Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for the district, arrived here last evening for the purpose of inquiring into the long delayed project of installing an electric lighting and heating system at the Coromandel Hospital. Tho Minister and Dr. Valintino conferred this morning with the members of the Hospital Board, and the Minister lost no tiino in coming to a decision to have the work undertaken. Ho promised to secure the services of an expert from the Public Works Department, who would visit the site and formulate a hydro-electric scheme.
It is proposed to augment the supply of water power by conserving the water in a reservoir with a view to securing sufficient energy to light the main street as well as the hospital. To do this legislation may bo necessary, which tho Minister promised to sponsor. The visitors motored to tho hospital this morning and were shown over tho institution. Tho site, appearance and appointments wore favourably commented upon by the Minister.
WAIHI DISTRICT BOUNDARIES.
REQUEST: FOR EXTENSION

The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, arrived here this afternoon from Thames, accompanied by Dr. Valintine and Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames. He visited tho Waihi Hospital, where he was received by tho chairman, Mr. J. E. Slovin, and members of the Hospital Board, tho assistant-medical superintendent, Dr. T. H. Short, and tho matron, Miss C. E. Lord. Tho Minister, after being shown over the building, was much impressed with (lie general appointments of tho institution.
Members of tho bo<lrd waited on Dr. Valintino and asked him if something could not be done in tho matter of extending the Waihi Hospital boundaries, so as to include the Waihi Plains, Waikino and Waitckauri, which were, as far as hospital patients were concerned, part of Waihi, Dr. Valintino replied that' tho time was not opportune, but that if tho local board would got Thames to aureoe to give Waihi tho area tho extension sought could no doubt be arranged. Tho Ministerial party left Waihi at fivo o'clock for 'Hamilton.
NEW BUILDING AT PAEROA.
GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] PAEROA, Wednesday.
The Ministor of Health, accompanied by Dr. Valentino a'nd Mr. Samuel, visited Paerort to-day. They were met by the Mayor, Mr. W. Marshall, members of the Paeroa Borough Council and representatives of tho Ohinemuri County Council. A welcome was accorded tho Minister in the borough chambers and several matters relative to the Paeroa Hospital were discussed, the Mayor expressing his pleasure at tho arrangement arrived at between the Health Department and the Thames Hospital Board regarding tho control and management of the Paeroa Hospital. The party visited the hospital site and Inspected the progress made in tho erection of tho building. Tho contractors havo completed all tho foundation work and have made considerable progress with the erection of the building proper, which is being built of red brick on concrete foundations.
