ELLEN TERRY'S PORTRAIT.
The portrait of Dame Terry by her first husband, G F. Watts, R.A., which was sold for 110 guineas at Christie's, has been bought by the National Portrait Gallery for public exhibition. Messrs. Samson, of the Haymarket. who bought the portrait (which shows Dame Ellen as a young girl with flowine hair), have sold Hie picture to the National Portrait Gallery at the same price as they paid for it. "It is our rule never to make a profit
