LAUNCH DAMAGED BY FIRE.

OCCUPANTS LANDED.

HULL BROUGHT TO BEACH.

[bt telegraph.—ewx correspondent.] COEOMANDEL, Wednesday.

While Mr. A. James was loading sheep at Rangipukea Island yesterday from Mr. Fred Strongman's launch he noticed a small vessel on fire about five miles out in the gulf. Mr. Strongman immediately set off to the burning vessel, and found it was a launch belonging to Mr. Kirby, of Thames. There was no sign of the launch hands, or any dinghy. She was burnt to the water's edge in the forepart, but the after part was not damaged so much. Mr. Strongman salvaged her, and beached her at Rangipukea. The launchmen, it was learned later, had landed at Kereta, and proceeded to Thames.
