BRISK BUSINESS CONTINUES. „

A large volume of business was again transacted on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. The demand for Government securities and some lines of local body debentures was slightly easier. War Loans, 1933, 5£ per cent., were done.at the ruling, rate, £lOl 10s. New Zealand Breweries debentures had two sales at 26s 3d, the current price. In banks New South Wales again sold at £sl 12s 6d. Unions of Australia, ex cliv., sold at £ls 6s, compared with the last sale; cum div., at £ls 15s. At the close of tho Exchange offers for Australians of Commerce, Adelaides and Unions of Australia wore firmer than on the previous day. In insurance New Zealands made three sales at 48s. a rise of ninepence, and closed with buyers at 47s 9d, sellers 48s 3d. Quecnslands and Australian Provincials had inquiry at sixpence more than on Tuesday. In loan and agency Goldsbrough, Mort and New Zealand and River Plates showed a firming tendency. In coal Pukemiros sold again at 67s 6d and Renowns improved sixpence to change hands at 18s. Offers for the preference issue of Hikurangis recovered from four shillings to five shillings and buyers of A preference advanced sixpence to 2s 6d. Westports were sought at 30s, the level of recent sales, sollers 30s 7d.

In gas Aucklands sold twice at 23s 9d, the levol of tho last sale ex div. More were wantod at the price, holders one penny dearer. Thames were offered at 9s, a drop of Is. In tho woollen section Ivaiapois sold at the current rate, 14s, ;ind in breweries New Zealands changed hands at 57s 9d, the level of the last sale. Buyers sought more at the price, sellers 58s.

In the miscellaneous section British Tobaccos were firmer and Colonial Sugars made their first sale of the year at £6O 15s, compared with £59 in December. At the close of the Exchango offers were advanced five shillings to £6O 10s. Milne and Choyce debentures changed hands again at 26s 3d. Tai'anaki Oils had two saleg at 6s 9d, compared with 11 ranging from 6s 9d to 7s lid on Tuesday. More were offered at 6s 9d, buyers 6s 6d. In mining Ohuiemuris changed hands at the current rate, 8s 4d.
