CUT OFF BY THE TIDE.
CONSTABLE MAROONED.
NIGHT BESIDE DROWNED MAN
SYDNEY, Feb. 1. Constable Brown, of tho Sydney water police, had the thrilling experience of being marooned all night on tho rocks oft' Dobroyd Point, opposite Sydney Heads. Beside him was tho corpse of John Lutge, aged 63, who had been drowned through his boat capsizing in the treacherous waters.
Constable Brown was attempting to rescue the man and was cut off by the rising tide. He had to sit on a n-.rrow ledgo of rock throughout the night with spray breaking over him. Lutge's body was recovered by tho police yesterday morning. Tho constable was hauled through the water at tho end of a rope, and finally reached safety by scaling tho rocks.
This part of the harbour, which is known as Bomboia, has claimed many victims in recent years.
