THE TE AWAMUTU FIXTURE.

TE AWAMUTU, Saturday
Tho executive of tho To Awamutu Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Association, at a special meeting called to advance arrangements for the annual show on February 20, appointed the following chief stewards:—Horse section, Mr. S. A. Empson; cattle, Mr. W. G. Macky; sheep, Mr. E. G. Humphrey; parade steward, Mr. S. Empson. Chief stewards in the dairy classes are: Ayrshires, Mr. H. Wellington; Jerseys, Mr. S. C. Macky; Friesians, Mr. H. J. Hodgson; Shorthorns, Mr. H. Mandeno.
The secretary, Mr. J. G. Wynyard, reported that a five-guinea cup had been donated for the class for gentlemen riders over fences, in addition to tho cash prize-money. . . Entries are coming in fairly well, and it is hoped that by closing date, Thursday next, they will constitute a record. WEIGHT-GUESSING RESULTS. COMPETITIONS AT WAIWERA. Results of the weight-guessing competitions at the recent Waitemala Agricultural Show at Waiwera arc:— Fat Cow (5991b.) —Rev. W. Hore, W. Ellett. and M. V. Bell, 5991b., equal, 1; Jack Bayer, 599|1b., 2. Two Sheep (109jlb.)—B. Hales, 1091b., 1; Roy Henderson, 10831b., 2. RANGITIKEI ASSOCIATION. POPULARITY OF THE SHOW. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAIHAPE, Saturday. When the committee of tho Ilangitikei Agricultural a#d Pastoral Association mot to-day the president, Mr. A. R. Fannin, remarked that the association had every reason to feel gratified with the success which attended the recent show, in spite of the inclement weather. If climatic conditions had been favourable he considered the show would have been the best in the history of tho association. Mr. Fannin also stated that the quality of the stock exhibited was a credit to tho district, and it was particularly pleasing to note the largo measure of support accorded tho show by the local farmers. The secretary reported that tho entry money showed an increase of £57 on last year's figures, while the amount received in donations was £B7 more than in 1928. Last year the weather was fino and this year it rained on both days of tho show, but the gale takings were only £1 less than in 1928.
