ROTORUA INTERESTS.
REGULATING MOTOR TRAFFIC. NEW BY-LAWS ADOPTED. [ iiv TELEGRAPH.—OWN* CORRESPONDENT.] KOTORUA. Friday. The Rotorua Borough Council has passed tho following by-laws:—That it shall lie unlawful to drive a motor-lorry, motor-bus or vehicle within the inner area at a speed exceeding 20 miles an hour and within the outer area at a speed exceeding 25 miles an hour, or within the Pukeroa Government gardens or -Ohinemutu at a speed exceeding 10 miles an hour, lhe by-laws aic to come into force on February 28. A letter was received from Mr. N. M. Keane asking if the council would consider a proposition to lease the waterfront known as the Marine Parade with the view to developing it into a Luna Park sports and recreation grounds for the town of Rotorua. The Mayor stated that the council had tho matter of the development of the Marine Parade as an amusement park under consideration and was not prepared to consider an offer at present. Some members thought the offer was worth consideration. The Mayor's motion was carried. Advice from the Lands and Survey Department was that it would be an extremely difficult and costly undertaking to clear Rainbow Mountain of the scrub which is gradually covering it. There were no funds in the department for that purpose.
