Five years' experience convinces me that this is the most profitable breed for Auckland Province. Each year my wool is among the highest priced, last year 23d, this year 22} d. My lowest percentage of lambs is 107. By careful selection and mating my sheep have an ideal carcase covered with dense, fine wool. Their tails are set high, hindquarters wide and " sawn off," shoulders deep and wide across withers, ribs well sprung and great depth over heart. My sheep are not pampered, but after weaning arc turned out on to the hills. The fleeco is so dense that seed and tea tree leaves cannot penetrate it. With sheep bred from cross bred ewes mated with Corriedale rams I got 18] pence per lb. for wool, and for fat lambs the Corriedale can equal the Southdown. Even on rat-tail country ewes are sound mouthed at eight years old. The hulk_ of the famous Canterbury lamb is Corriedale. I have spared no expense in developing'my flock, and have recently purchased the best rams and ewes that I could get from W. Macintosh, of White Rock, Mains, Canterbury, whose flock dates from IS7B, and will be pleased to show them to any inquirer. T have rams for sale at moderate prices.
