TRIBUTE TO ENGINEER.
PROMOTION OF MR. CAMPBELL Mr. L. B. Campbell, district engineer of the Public Works Department in Auckland, who has been promoted to the position of inspecting engineei for the Dominion, has been presented with a wallet containing a chequp by the members of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Society ol Civil Engineers. Mr. W. Arthur Gray, chairman of the branch, presided over a gathering of members, and among the speakers were Mr. F. E. Powell, Mr. W. E. Bush, city engineer, Mr. F. E. de Guerrier, city tramways engineer, Mr. J. F. McArthiu, Franklin County engineer, Mr. .1. 1Murray and Mr. W. O'Ryan. A hearty welcome was accorded .Mr. Campbell's successor, S. Dyson, on behalf of the gathering, by Mr. J. ItPage, engineer to the Manukau County Council, and Mr. A. Murray, of the tcmata County Council
