COLLISION WITH A POLE.

ONE PASSENGER KiLLED

TWO OTHERS IN HOSPITAL.

As a result of a serious motor smash in the early hours of this morning Mr. Sydney Harold Patten, an employee of A. and T. Burt, Limited, lost his life. A car driven by Mr. It. G. Day, of the Gladstone service station, was going from town toward Gladstone when it collided violently with a heavy telegraph pole on the North Road. Mr. Patten was killed outright and Mr. Day was rendered unconscious. A third passenger, Mr. Frederick Gcrbes, was also in an unconscious state when picked up, and with Mr. Day was removed to the hospital. Tho latter sustained several scalp wounds, while Mr. Gerbes was cut about tho face.
