OBITUARY.
MRS. T. W. DAVIESThe death occurred at her home in Alburv Avenue, Epsom, on Saturday of Mrs. Da vies, wife of Mr. T. W. Davies. Mrs. Pavies, who was 80 years of age, had lived in Xew Zealand for 62 years. She resided for many years at Xgaruawaliia, where Mr. Pavies was a member of the firm of Friar, Davies and Company. She leaves two sons. Mr A. A. Davies, of Auckland, and Mr. B. Davies, of New Plymouth, and two daughters, Mrs. 11. B. Speight, of Auckland, and Mrs. 11. E. Parrv, of C'hiistchurch. MR. C. E. ROWLANDS. [i;v TKI.EUIUrH. —OWN COHRESI'ONDENT. J WHANGAREI, Sunday The death occurred at his residence in Church Street, Onerahi, yesterday of Mr. Charles Ernest Rowlands, at the age of 70. Mr. Rowlands was one of the oldest native-born residents of the district, being born at Urquhart's Bay, Whangarei Heads, lie was the son of tlio late Mr. H. T. S. Rowlands, who was the first school teacher in the North. Mr. Rowlands spent his boyhood at Whangarei Heads and Waipu, and was later engaged in the timber trade in various parts of the North', particularly in the Northern Wairoa. Ho was an expert bushman. Latterly Mr. Rowlands was in the service of the Portland CementCompany, which he left some months ago. Ilis widow and five sons and two daughters survive hint.
