RELIEF OF MINERS.

CHILDREN NOT FORGOTTEN.

GIFTS FROM ROYAL FAMILY.

British Wireless. RUGBY, Dee. 17. Queen Mary has sent a consignment of clothing and Christmas toys to the Lord Mayors of Cardiff and Newcastle, for distribution among the families of the unemployed minors, together with an expression of sympathy on behalf of King George and herself. Princess Mary has also sent a consignment of children's boots, and on behalf of her two little sons a large number of toys for distribution among the children.

Tho Duchess of York, on behalf of her little daughter, Princess Elizabeth, has also sent gifts of toys. The public subscriptions on behalf of the miners have reached large proportions, and it is understood that the special Stato assistance, over and above the normal unemployment relief, which the Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, will announce in Parliament to-morrow, will be devised in such a manner as not to discourage the flow of private contributions from sympathisers with the miners.
