THE AOOKLAND EXCHANGE.

QUIET • OPENING TO WEEK.

The new week's business was introduced by very few sales on tha Auckland Stock Exchange yes'terday. The Government securities section was quiet, with quotations mainly unchanged. For Inscribed' Stocks, 1938, 4>jr per cent., which were sold at £99" 7s 6d on Saturday, holders wanted £99 10s at the first call and'£99 15s at the late call, 'but buyers wero steady at £99. In banks Commercial of Australia had late sale at 30s Bd, the figure current at the end of last week. Offers for New South Wales were odvanced by 5s to £SO 5s without response from sellers. The last sale was at £SO 2s 6d three weeks ago. New Zealonds were available at 61s 9d, Saturday's market price, at the late call, buyers 61s 3d. •In insurance 46s was paid for New Zealands at tho late call, an advance of 6d on the rato rocently current. Other quotations in the section were unchanged. In gas Aucklands had late sale at 23s 9d, an improvement of a penny on Saturday's salo level. Tho contributing issue was done at 17s 6d, an advanco of Id on the rata recently ruling. . . Tho miscellaneous section was unusually quiet and no sales were registered. In mining Ohinemuris were done at 8s 6d, an advanco of 6d on last week's sale rate. Waihis changed hands at 14s sd, a penny below last week's best price. , 1 . , Tho following sales took place:—Commercial Bank of Australia, 30s 8d; New Zealand Insurance, 46s (three sales); Auckland Gas, ,23s 9d; Auckland' Gas, con., 17s 6d;' Ohinemuri Gold ;and Silver, 8s 6d; Waihi, 14s sd.
