STAFF COURSE CONCLUDES.

FEBRUARY MANOEUVRES.

The first special camp of the present military year, for members of fchd permanent staff of the New Zealand Defence Forces, concluded at Narrow Neck yesterday. A total of 21 officers and 35 warrant and non-commissioned officers attended the fortnight's course, which embraced almost every phase of military training.

A busy year is anticipated as far as the Auckland district is concerned, especially in view of tho expensivo manoeuvres to bo held at Orewa in February. Thes® will take place while the Ist Battalion, Auckland Regiment, is in camp at Narrow, Neck, and the warships of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy will participate.

A party of officers of the regiment nnder Lieut.-Colonel T. H. Dawson and tho adjutant, Captain J. G. C. Wales, of the permanent staff, will visit Orewa tomorrow to carry out an all-day reconnaissance of the area. It is hoped the air arm of tho defence forces will also participate in tho spectacle, and arrangements are now in hand to secure co-opera-tion between various units.
