CHRISTMAS OUTING FUND.
LAST WEEK OF CAMPAIGN.
Tiio last week of our 1928 Herald Brigado Campaign! This day week nearly 200 poor little children of Auckland will be enjoying the greatest tVeat of the whole year, provided for them by our generous-hearted boys and girls. And what about the others? . The poor old folk whose only happiness on Christmas day will be that which tho good St John Nurses bring to them; what of the littlo sick children confined to bed, who will know no visit from Santa unless our boys and girls fill a sack of special toys to send them ? It all depends on how near the closing week of our Christmas Campaign brings us to our £SO objective. And I feel sure, dear boys and girls, we are goiug t<> do it! Our total this, week has been over £l4; we must better that in the coming week, and I have such confidence in my readers, their parents and friends, that I believe we are going to reach our objective and do all that we want to do for the sick and poor who are looking to us for their Christmas joy. If wo get inoro than tho £SO, what a splendid success that would be—a record for a short four-weeks' campaign ! So do your best, boys and girls, and send your donations in quickly, for there is much work to be crowded into the next seven short days. It has been decided that our picnic shall be to Ferndale, Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Knight having very kindly offered us tho use of their beautiful playground, The children will be taken in motor-buses, wo will give them lunch, and the after noon will be spent in t games and fun of all description. They will be told of the boys and girls who have given them their fine outing, and I know the forest will echo with their cheers for the " Herald Brigade!" A fine' list of donations this week, headed by' Betty's collection from kindhearted folk at Arapuni, and tho pioceeds of tho afternoon arranged by Berta, her mother, and friends. Our heartiest thanks to you all, and let the good work continue for one week more! Sixteen pounds, and wo shall have- achieved our object.
