A MORNING CRUISE.

(By JACK GORDON. M.8.G.. Bow Street, R&b'l&n). We decided to start very early one fine mornings, for tho upper reaches of lha ■harbour, before sunrise, when ail was tranquil and quiet, to take a few snaps with my camera. Tho boat glided over the water, which was like a mirror and left a wake behind-it with hardly a ripple. After about "half-an-hour's pulling we made for a small bay, and as we turned the corner the sun rose over the distant hills'like a huge golden ball, casting a soft rosy tint on all around ar I reflecting in tho water like a golden path studded with thousands of diamonds, across the bay. In a few minutes we floated slow'y round a bend, ahd then wo seemed to have reached fairy land A dozen kowhai trees in full bloom, right on tho water's edge, were reflected in the calm water, and a number of tuis were flitting from tree to tree sucking honey from the golden flowers, and the beautiful liquid notes of their morning's song floated over the water to greet us. Tho pure white clematis showered above us on the hillside among the magnificent ponga ferns. Wo found a pratty little waterfall a little higher up at tho head of the inlet, and it looked so inviting that we all had an early morning dip in tho sea, and a showerbath under tho small waterfall, which we all enjoyed immensely. We felt quito sorry to leave our picturesque little spot, but as the tide was turning and we were beginning to feel hungry we decided to start for homo and breakfast, which we reached in good time with healthy appetites after our most enjoyable outing.
