NEW AMERICAN SYSTEM. Harassed foot pussongers in Boston are to be given a chance to cross the road in safety, tho city having adopted a threelight system of traffic control which at a given moment stops all traffic in favour of the pedestrian. llio lights aro in three colours—green, red, and amber. Ihe green light means they must stop, and the amber light means that all vehicles in all directions must stop. When the red and amber are shown at tho same time, then is the foot passenger's minuto. He, and he alone, can cross the street. / Further protection for foot passengers is given by provision for crossing lines at points not governed by tho three-light Vehicles must allow foot passengers to cross on these linos uu» molested*
