SUNDAY OBSERVANCE.
Sir, —Tho question of Sabbath as a day of "rest and recreation" has caused quite a sensation lately, and as superintendent of Sabbath observance for our Ponsonby W'.C.T.U. may 1 beg to stand steadfastly for the principles stated in Isaiah lviii, 13. "If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words; then shalfc thgu delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of tho earth." This is an age of rush and hurry, and more than ever in the world's history do we need a day of calni and rest and holy quiet. Tho nervous exhaustion, the breakdown in health, the worry and strain of modern life all point to God's lovipg panacea as the one great need of this age. Let us claim it and enjoy it. One thing I would exhort the people to give themselves up to more prayer, and so live the life daily for Him Who has given us all things to enjoy. E. Fabband.
