FREE AMBULANCE.
THE WELLINGTON SERVICE. SUCCESS OF OPERATIONS. [ lIV 'iEI.EGRAI'H. —I'KESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. The Wellington freo ambulanco has just completed the first 12 months of its service. The president of tho Ambulance Association, Mr, C. J. B. Norwood, said today that they had met a very real success and the future looked very promising indeed.
In 12 months 5129 cases had been : handled and the movement, was mooting with growing public support. As time went on the service would bo extended and ambulances would bring in maternity cases from tho country and transport outpatients to and from tho hospital. Asked how much more work tho ambulanco was doing than when tho several services wcro working independently 18 months ago Mr. Norwood said, "Approximately three times." He praised tho willing service given by tho auxiliary workers from tho St.. John Ambulanco and said lie hoped the Government next session would give tho ambulanco a charter in due form, which would definitely fix the methods of financing tno service in the future.
