MOTOR SPEED RECORD.

CAMPBELL'S DESERT TRACK. MISHAP ON FLIGHT HOME. LONDON, Nov. 19. Captain .-Malcolm Campbell, British racing motorist, has found a suitable stretch of sand 95 miles from Taurirt, on which to make an attempt on tho world's motoring record, says an Algerian correspondent of the Daily Mail.

Ho is bringing cases of sand to England to onablo experts to determine whether tho tyres of his car will bo able to withstand running at a tremendous speed in the desert. Ho hopes to break the speed record on the Sahara in December. If ho fails, he will make another attempt in Florida.

Captain Campbell started to fly back to England after inspecting the track on th« Sahara, but was forced down, with Flight-Lieutenant Don, in the sea off Punta Pescadores, Morocco, owing to angine trouble.

The two men abandoned the machine and walked 16 miles to a Spanish post. Now they are trying to salvage the plane, which the Spanish authorities have sent tt vessel to safeguard.
