WHITEWASH FORMULAS.

AMERICAN IDEAS. The fo lowing formulas are recommended by American agricultural experiment stations for whitewash for dairy and other fan n buildings. [ hey are taken from a list, published in Hoad's Dairyman:—

J Mir. 501b. hydratcd lirne with 8 gallons; boiling water. Add 101b. common salti and lib. alum dissolved in 6 gallons boif ing water. Stir mixture well, adding 511* cement..

3 Factory whitewash: (a) Beat up a jib. rye flour in a pint of cold water, then add 1 gallon of boiling water, (b) Dissolve jib. of common salt in 2 quarts of h'jpt water. Mix A and B then stir this into a solution of 101b. quicklime slashed in 2 gallons of water. 4. Weatherproof whitewash for extc/iots: Slake 621b. quicklime in 12 gaily OS of l ot water, and add 21b. salt and lj'f>. sulphate of zinc dissolved in 2 galId as of toiling water. To this mixture add 2 gallons of skim milk and stir well. ,b. Slake quicklime with water, and acl-il sufficient skim milk to bring to the consistency of thin cream.
